Yu Gi Oh – Coming to xbox live.

Believe it or not, the Yu Gi Oh card game is coming to xbox live! A game that is currently one of the biggest trading card games in the world, and it was just a matter of time til they moved a step beyond the PSP and NDS. What I dont like at this moment is the fact that you will have to buy packs with microsoft points to get more and new cards? Maybe there is a ingame function to get new cards as well, otherwise I see alot of players just sticking with what they start of with, if they will get it all knowing this.

Maybe it works more like a bonus pack, that gives you thoese extra and better cards. We’ll just have to wait and see about that. Here is the quoted info on the game, followed by a few pictures:

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Decade Duels

X-Com “remake” in the making!

X-Com is a good old strategy game that was released back in 1994, it’s one of thoese games that strategy fans loved. It was a good mix between building bases, air battles, researching and devoloping and ofcourse turn-based battles around the globe. Now 2K Games are working on a reamake of this good old classic, but instead of the turn based battles, the game will take place in a FPS mode and you as a player will play as ONE FBI agent. It also sounds like there will be strategy invovled, how this will work we dont know yet. The game will be released fox Xbox 360 and PC.

This is what we can find on the website: http://www.xcom.com

XCOM is the re-imagining of the classic tale of humanity’s struggle against an unknown enemy that puts players directly into the shoes of an FBI agent tasked with identifying and eliminating the growing threat. True to the roots of the franchise, players will be placed in charge of overcoming high-stake odds through risky strategic gambits coupled with heart-stopping combat experiences that pit human ingenuity – and frailty – against a foe beyond comprehension. By setting the game in a first-person perspective, players will be able to feel the tension and fear that comes with combating a faceless enemy that is violently probing and plotting its way into our world.

We can also find a single screen from the new game in OXM, its also posted here if you want the see the magazine covers and such go here: http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/xbox-360/news/new-xcom-revealed-by-oxm-first-screen-inside/a-2010041317556922006/g-20060321132945404017

To make it easy for you, here is the single screen from the game:

I know what you’re thinking. FPS? Play a single character and go around shooting your enemies? It is a step in a weird direction. We’ve already seen games that copies X-Com; the UFO series. The UFO series were fun and interesting if you liked the old classic, the old classic always won if discussed though. What I dont understand is how they will tie it together with calling it X-Com (acctualy Xcom)? What parts will be remebered from the old classic? The look of the aliens? It’s hard to imagine this childhood classic of mine taking such a turn, but I will follow it and if it ends up looking good, hell I might even get it. But, I will still stick to the old classic for now.

Bad Company 2 Vs. Modern Warfare 2 / Part 1

(Played on Xbox 360)

So there it is, the two FPS giants of this very moment. Some would argue that Halo and such should be mentioned but I don’t believe any of them comes to this standard. Excuse me, I don’t really mean standard when I say it like that, I mean games that takes place today with soldiers that might as well have been true (not really).

So let give me a few seconds to go on to YouTube, why? Cause that’s one of the places where the fans really fight it out. The fan boys of both games, type down angry words in a mix of opinion why the game they play is the better one. Of course my own opinion will matter more then all of these comments, but it’s still fun to start of somewhere around an “emotional lane”.

“Whoohoo i have batllefield bad company
its a good game better that call of duty, because you have vehicules and big maps etc haha good.”

“don’t get this game on the 360 it’s rubbish, the graphics are terrible and the frame rates are shocking, the concept of the game is great but it’s got some real issues. after playing mw2 and cod4 which is a smooth as glass with great controls this game is unbearable to play. very poor effort EA”

“It’s probably awkard because DICE must’ve thought about knife spam. To be honest, having a harder time getting a knife kill makes it so much more rewarding & much more encouraging to use it as a stealth tactic to eliminate snipers or those failing to watch their surroundings rather than run through the gunfire and hope for the best. It’s what Battlefield is about. Teamwork & strategy. And it awards you much more for doing either rather than being a one man killing machine. That’s why I love it”

Something I found interesting while looking for these comments, is the fact that they were all found under Bad Company 2 videos. Tried to look in the comments of Modern Warfare 2 videos as well, but mostly found: “This is the best.” “This is the shits.” “Join my room for prestige 10.”
There are also a few mentioning’s of Bad Company 2 but most of the creative comments are posted under the Bad Company 2 videos themselves. Maybe BC2 fans feel they have more to prove to the FPS community than what MW2 players have to.
So let’s examine a few points with both games. Examine what works best and why, if there is such a thing as “best”. Also keep in mind that most of these thoughts will be connected with multiplayer, not so much the single player campaigns of the games.

GRAPHICS

Graphics are becoming a bigger and bigger part of gaming as we know it. People can often get turned off by the fact that the games don’t look like they “should”. Of course lesser graphics doesn’t mean that a game is worse or better, it may be connected with system, budget, skill of developers and of course how it works for that particular game.

If I had to pick one of the games when it comes to graphics, it would probably be Modern Warfare 2. Is it that much better? Perhaps not, but it’s a lot more tightened down and focused then in Bad Company 2. Why is this really? The thing is that BC2 covers a much bigger area, everything around is destructible and can be blown to bits or shot down. This also gives you a better feeling of a battlefield, it could also explain why the graphics are somewhat worse at some points. This is of course out of a map and scenery aspect, when it comes to characters I would have to say that I prefer the way they are portrayed in BC2.
Who wins in the big graphic wars of FPS? I would have to say Modern Warfare 2. Don’t get me wrong though, Bad Company 2 is great when it comes to graphics as well.

SOUND

For people that have played both games, I’m pretty sure you already know the outcome of this one. Modern Warfare 2 has some great music and sound effects, the weapons sound great and are really well portrayed. Sadly, it’s around the guns where the magnificent sound work stops. The rest of the sounds cover what it should do, footsteps and grenades and such, but don’t really do much else.

Bad Company 2 however don’t only have great sounding guns, but it changes depending on where you are and gives a great realistic sounds when heard from afar (from other players), should also be mentioned that MW2 also have this function, the guns do sound different depending on the distance, but BC 2 does this a lot better. It sounds like a battlefield, and that’s something they should be proud of, the sounds of tanks, grenades and helicopters are also very significant, they fill a space in picture of sound that surrounds you, and you can even use this to a tactical advantage in multiplayer, you can listen to where you’re opponents are and such.

This factor is also recognized in MW2, where footsteps can be heard from the direction of people walking around, sadly, I feel that the maps have such a straightforward layout (and are generally small) that you mostly know where the opponents are going to pop up. This does a lot more when playing smaller games and/or one on one.

When it comes to sound – Bad Company 2 really stands out.

CONTROL

This is such a touchy subject, it really is. What you prefer as a player is so personal, and some people will like BC2 controls better and vice versa. What we really can see as a difference here is that BC2 has a somewhat bulkier control, a bit slower and also includes vehicles. MW2 is a lot quicker and some would say smoother, I must admit that I myself sometimes wished for the same quick responsive controls in BC2, but this is mostly when experiencing close quarter combat, something that is not as common in BC2 compared to MW2. Each game has the controls it needs to be efficient and used correctly. At this point it really feels as though the games are of different genres, Bad Company 2 – a war game, and Modern Warfare 2 – a small conflict game.

Both games have controls that function, non will really stand out of the winner here.

Stay tuned for part 2 of this game duel!

Resident Evil 5 Desperate Escape – Review

This is the second of the new mini games for Resident Evil 5. This time the two playable characters are Jill and Josh, if you’re a RE5 player you will understand that this mini game plays out during the main story from RE5. Just like the main game and Lost In Nightmares, Desperate Escape should be played with a friend, this way you will really enjoy the game and what it gives you, trying to figure out how to make it through the levels with the highest chance of Survival.

This time Jill and Josh are trying to make their way to help Chris and Sheva, and the way there is packed with enemies, gates and “mini bosses”. The puzzles are more violent compared to Lost In Nightmares, you’re constantly being attacked while trying to make your way forward, finding keys and doors to get you to the next area. It’s one long adrenaline rush that won’t let you rest until it’s done. The game won’t frighten you or make you twist around when something jumps in front of you, but it will keep you glued to the screen.

The stress will come back when you notice that the ammo can sometimes run low if you try to defeat several of the enemies. I recommend playing at a higher difficulty level to really get the most out of Desperate Escape (same for Lost In Nightmares), the challenge is still not a long one, but it will keep you entertained, and there is a replay value to try and all the achievements (if you’re like “that”).

There isn’t much of a story in the game but I don’t want to give out the ending for those looking for that in the games. If you don’t want to know the end bit, simply stop reading now, and go on to the “Welcome back” part.

THE END – great welcome! The best part of Desperate Escape is the ending bit, where you and you’re friend or AI buddy will play a horde like mode. A timer will start and you have to survive for 5 minutes, the area have some ammo and healing items ready, but after that, it’s all about what the monsters drop for you. This one area could have been a optional game of its own within Desperate Escape, it’s really enjoyable.

WELCOME BACK – so welcome back. Lets round it up, length wise, it’s pretty short of a game, but it will keep you entertained through the whole thing, it’s fast and action filled, the only place where it’s lacking is the story which sadly is pretty much nonexistent. I still recommend it for all the Resident Evil fans that want more.

GOOD
+ Action filled & fun
+ Barry & Rebecca in mercenaries
+ The ending

BAD
– Still short for a DLC
– Lack of story

I’ve been playing so many games latley its getting kinda weird. With so many good releases and so many things to write about its hard to keep up. Bad Company 2 – Review (Xbox 360)

Bad Company 2, a battlefield game, a battlefield you will never forget! Let us start off with the single player and move on the multiplayer later on in the review.

Bad Company 2 throws you in to the battle heads on, but a few things have changed since the last time we joined the soldiers of Bad Company. The graphics have been worked on a bit, but the engine is the same and even though the bigger picture of everything feels a lot more epic and eye-catching, the smaller details still feel the same. This doesn’t mean that graphics aren’t better and very very good, it’s just that it won’t be a big surprise to Bad Company 1 players.

The sound is also something that’s very important in Battlefield games, and they are still great. Every gun fired, and every explosion adds to this giant web of sound. It really gives you the feeling of a battlefield, and makes it feel huge. Some may believe that this make it a big blur of sound, but with a system that makes the sounds are closest to you get priority over the rest, this is never an issue. To really show you how much they care about the sound, there are several different sound settings, TV, Hi-Fi, surround, headphones, War Room. The last making the game sound more “realistic”, the dialog isn’t as easy to hear but the gun sounds a lot more crisp, I recommend this to anyone that loves the sound of a war game.

Let’s talk about the game play, the controls have changed a little tiny bit, and this is mostly in the vehicle apartment, and quicker turning around as well. You can change the setting to Bad Company 1 controls, if you feel better using them. The maps in the single player aren’t as huge anymore; they are tightened down to give you more action and less running around. This works really well! You never feel lost and every area is now a danger zone and it feels tight, the dialogs follows the style of the first game, and makes you smile while doing headshots on your enemies and blowing walls away. The buildings are still destructible and every wall is just a grenade away from giving you a new path, a strategy that works all too well.

There are several “new” weapons in the game, new being that they have different sites (red-dot and such), and as soon as you find them in the game, you can always pick them up again from weapon boxes that are positioned along the way in the game. A great idea, that always let you change strategy and weapon loud out for different parts of the game.

Where this game really shines is in the multiplayer, the mix of vehicles and tighter areas were you only can get on by foot really adds up to some great map work. The mix of teamwork that’s needed to use vehicles and fight against them gives battles a more important feel to them. Killing a attack helicopter is really satisfactory, and helps the team a lot. You only get a max of 12 vs 12 players in a game, it still feels so much bigger than most FPS games out there right now. The system is enhanced with more weapons and new and different vehicles. The four new classes have their own level up just as you as a player also does. This means that the more you play one of the four classes, the more items and weapons you unlock for that class, a really sweet addition to the normal XP system in most games.

All in all Bad Company 2, gives you more of what we all loved with the first game, small fixes of the controls, new weapons and vehicles and a great multiplayer. It’s really worth a buy, if you enjoy FPS games on console, this is one you should get when you get the chance.

Good
+ Great and long lasting multiplayer
+ Tighter and faster single player
+ Great detail in sound/ game play

Bad
– A bit short
– Wont feel that new to an everyday player
